This Massive Cottonwood Tree Humbled Me!
This Massive Cottonwood Tree Humbled Me!
In this video we will be removing several backyard Cottonwood trees in this low access backyard. There is one tree that stands out above them all. The largest tree I have removed without the assistance from a crane. Although not everything went perfect we successfully completed the job. But remember if your not struggling your not learning!!!

Happy Canada day brother
Yout, too, brotha

Nice and floatie broski, good job giving your dudes a heads up! Cottonweeds are brittle at the tips!
Hell ya, they are! I had one land on me, lol I didn't have all smooth pics the full video will be out sunday
Nice ✊️
Thanks Greg 🤙
Nice work, that's a beautiful spot
For sure it is! I've been down here too long, though 😆 one more cluster of 5 to remove next week and I'm done
Spider lift is gonna be awesome
For sure!
🤏
Awesome work folks🏆🤙🪓 sick rigging session! That was a beast!
Thanks Dano 🤙
Excellent pick guys!
Thanks, Dano! We had a couple of rough ones, too 😆 you'll see in the full video
Well done!
Thanks, Dano!
You're the man 😎👍🏻💪🏻
Thanks, brotha. Had a few shitty picks, too. You will see in the full video.

Thanks brotha 🤙
Beautiful picK
Thanks brotha 🤙
Nice control brother. That was a smooth lift.
Thanks, jay! They weren't all super smooth, lol
excellent job 🤙💪
Thanks, man! 🫡
Awesome job guys frickin beast 💪 👏
Thanks Greg 🤙
Pops/cotton woods are nasty trees, wood is big, but they wobble and move about all over the place not a nice feeling like you said and getting stuff hung up is just real life😅. Stuff just doesn’t go perfect all the time.... that bucket lift does make life easier. Usually, in uk we don't have the room for bucket lifts maybe a spider or usually bigger crane to remove them, Nice work there fella 👌
Haha, for sure! Thanks for watching 🤙 I am buying a spider lift soon here. We have a lot of low access areas. Be safe, brotha
Nice job brother. Please tell me how you’re hanging the 462 on the outside of the bucket. That looks slick.
It's just a bent bolt. That we bolted to the bucket 😆. It is handy, but you have to be aware of your surroundings.
Well done! Those big cottonwoods can be tricky for sure. I enjoyed the explanation along the way!
Hey, thanks for watching 🤙 it helps me as well to review the footage and see where I can improve! Be safe, brotha
Enjoyed the vide. Very nice job on that cottonwood. They can be really dangerous to climb and dismantle. I like the speedlining....nice you had the room for some. I'm not a it fan of span rigging. I prefer to use regular rig with a control tag line. I'm a big fan of tag lines....most of the time not necessary, but I feel a lot more comfortable with the extra control. That's big wood....great job with the negative rigging. Kudos to your rope man. All around fine job. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks, brotha! I totally agree that span rigging can work but can also be annoying. But hey, if there is no struggle, there is no learning 😆. Thanks for watching, brotha! Be safe 🤙
Pretty wild how big some of the laterals get on Cottonwood’s without snapping off!
It is for sure! I got a monster to prune later this year, and I'll show a clip of the stub left where a branch fell and crushed a car 😆. It was pretty big
@@PoplarMechanic I’ve got a few to prune on a golf course beside a river that are monsters but I ain’t touching them till the wasps go to sleep for the winter…. Picked up a HAAS and jet step for it, should probably make a video of my fist attempt using it in the yard, might be a good laugh for UA-cam 🤣
It's been a year of big trees we did another monster poplar yesterday. Awesome work brother. You guys are kicking ass.
That's awesome, Jay! Thanks, brotha! I think we are at that time when people want the big ones to go. Lucky us 😆
What size bar are you running on the 194t? 14 or 16inch? Thanks
14
14 brotha
You count them rings?
I didn't, but this one was definitely over 100.
Boy that's epic. Doesn't sink in until you see it on its side.
For sure
One big boy right there 🤙
O ya. Video is gonna be sick!
That made your truck look small 😂
😆
Chick's dig fat stumps. 😂❤. Bsafe bro
There’s a tree down here called a china berry that will start splitting after a cut
That would be sketchy!
@@PoplarMechanic oh yea it was lol. It slowly split about a foot down the trunk then stopped 😅
@@petershea3131 I can imagine the feeling 😂
Need a video on this monster
It's coming, brotha! 🫡
❤
Nice mate
Ground Crew: Hey Cutter! You got a weight estimate on that?! Sawyer: “Yeah! approximatelyyyyy “”Poopy pants””!
Lol
Thats a monster poplar.
It sure was! I wish you could have seen it in person.
💯🤟

The grinder is going to get a workout 💪 😅
I don't think we are grinding this one. Not yet anyway lol
We got the stump 😆
@@PoplarMechanic Hahahaha…. Should time lapse that job, will make for a good 15min clip 🤣🤣
@@PuskwaskaOutdoors lol for sure
🤘🏼
🤙
Hell yeah!

I cut a tree years ago, and when it hit the ground, it split open and a bunch of bats flew away. Like over a hundred. Pretty cool to see.
I love watching people doing tree work. I did it for 37 years around power lines. It gets a little nerve racking but overall I couldn’t have picked a better career. Only a certain type of few people will become tree workers! It is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.
100% man. I got a monster tree near the spicy wires today with a 7 foot base. We got the crane coming, and one of my guys is sick. Wish me luck! 😆
Good luck and be safe out there. Thanks for the comment and glad to know a brother in our trade!
Nothing could have prepared me how for just how accurate 'little bat' was, guys tiny!!
He was pretty cool. He ended up flying off into a spruce tree

Hey, any chance of a video comparing the Rope Runner Pro with the Unicender? We're trying to decide between those two, would be great to get your take. We've already ruled out the Akimbo since we work in a high-humidity place on sappy trees.
The uni is good. However, the rrp is way better imo. The uni needs mods to be decent. I actually traded my uni for an akimbo 😆. Just get the rrp. You won't regret it. Just make sure you air blast out the hole where the spring is and pil it once in a while.
@@PoplarMechanic Great to know. Thanks!
